“Ceramic tint” has become a popular term, and for good reason. But if you’ve been comparing quotes around Victoria, you may have noticed that not every ceramic film is described the same way, and prices can vary quite a bit.
At Signature Detailing, the only window tint we install is LLumar CTX ceramic tint. Here’s what it is, what it does, and how to compare it fairly with other options.
What is LLumar CTX ceramic window tint?
CTX is a premium ceramic window film made by LLumar. It comes in multiple colour-stable charcoal shades, from deep limo-dark to a subtle grey, all without a reflective, mirror-like finish.
LLumar ceramic tints are ultra-thin films embedded with microscopic nano-ceramic particles that reject heat.
How much heat does LLumar CTX block?
Every CTX shade comes with published, tested performance data. On LLumar’s automotive performance data sheet, total solar energy rejection for CTX ranges from 43% (CTX 50, the lightest shade) to 58% (CTX 05, the darkest).
A few things worth knowing:
- Darker shades generally reject more total solar energy.
- These figures are measured on single-pane, 6 mm clear glass, so real-world results vary with your vehicle’s glass.
Does LLumar CTX block UV rays?
Yes. Every CTX shade blocks over 99% of harmful UV rays (300 to 380 nm).
UV protection helps protect your skin and your vehicle’s interior, which is useful even on overcast Victoria days.
Will ceramic tint interfere with my phone or GPS?
CTX delivers excellent heat rejection without blocking electronic signals. That matters for phones, GPS, and other connected features in today’s vehicles.
Does LLumar CTX change colour or fade?
CTX’s charcoal shades are colour-stable, so they’re built to hold their look over time, and CTX is backed by LLumar’s limited lifetime warranty.
What else does CTX do?
Along with heat and UV protection, CTX:
- Reduces glare by 37% to 94%, depending on shade
- Offers added protection against injuries from shattered glass
- Gives a clean, non-mirrored look
LLumar CTX vs basic ceramic and dyed tint
Window films generally fall into a few families. Dyed films use dye to darken the glass. Ceramic films use ceramic particles to help reject heat. Within “ceramic,” products and performance vary from one manufacturer and product line to the next.
Rather than going by labels alone, here’s how we suggest comparing any film fairly:
- Ask for the published spec sheet. Look at total solar energy rejection and UV protection for the exact shade you’re considering, not just the best number in the line.
- Compare the same shade. A darker film will usually show stronger heat numbers, so compare like with like.
- Check the warranty. Find out who backs it, how long it lasts, and what it covers.
- Ask about the installer. A quality film still needs careful prep and installation to look its best.
We choose LLumar CTX because LLumar publishes clear performance data, offers colour-stable shades, and backs CTX with LLumar’s limited lifetime warranty.
How much does LLumar CTX tint cost in Victoria?
All prices are plus tax:
- 5-window: from $650 plus tax
- 7-window: from $750 plus tax
Every LLumar CTX install we do is backed by LLumar’s limited lifetime warranty. Final pricing depends on your vehicle and is subject to inspection.
Choosing the right shade
The right shade depends on your goals, whether that’s heat, glare, privacy or looks. We’ll walk you through the options and help you choose a setup that fits BC’s rules.
